Smoothie Challenge Recap

Only one more day of the Smoothie Challenge! Wahoo!

Even with the traveling I’ve been doing I’ve been fitting in a smoothie every day. I think having a smoothie every day has become a habit now. Well, they say it only takes 28 days to form a habit – and by tomorrow it’ll be 31 days. I think the secret to not getting bored of the daily smoothies is VARIETY. I’ve been keeping everything fresh and interesting with lots of yummy recipes.

Eat Clean Smoothie 01

I made a delicious berry recipe from one of Tosca Reno’s books (love her books!). Dee-licious.

I’ve also been making a LOT of chocolate shakes. You know me – I’m all about the cocoa! I made LeanBodyLifestyle’s Frozen Mocha Protein Shake and I will be making it again! Then, OF COURSE, when nothing else grabs my attention, my chocolate peanut butter protein shake gets made. If you’re not too sick of smoothie recipes, I might even share it with you (grin).

Two of my goals for the challenge were to eat more protein and to lose a couple vanity pounds. The results made me happy, I lost a few pounds and I ate a lot more protein.

I’ve learned that when I’m craving desserts there are LOTS of yummy low-carb and high-protein recipes I can make without sugar. One of my favourites is Jamie Eason’s Cinnamon Protein Cake (I’ve made this one a couple times!) and everyone in the family loved it. It was great because my gluten-free eating Dad could eat it as well.

Protein Cake 01

While we’re on the subject of healthy sweets – I made my friend Kris’s Sweet Peanut Butter Protein Balls (grain-free and high-fiber). For extra indulgence, I lightly coated half of the ball with some melted chocolate. Absolutely decadent.

That’s it for today – but I wanted to leave you with a few fun photos of some of the more creative entries into the July Smoothie Challenge! More pics to come next post (when I announce the prize winners!!!) so check in on Wednesday!

Also, I wanted to announce this week’s random winner of the Vega Energizing Smoothie is Steph! Congrats girl!

I have a protein smoothie everyday and sometimes 2 times/day. A green smoothie of some sort and a fruit smoothie for recovery. I’m bummed I missed the challenge. Next time :)

One of my favorite smoothies right now is here http://jillconyers.com/2012/07/post-workout-recovery/

Ha ha. So cute that SemiSweet posted a stuffed animal in her pic, too. Love Tigger :-)

Thanks for posting my pics again. That makes me feel so special. I’ve had such a blast with this challenge and am now totally addicted to smoothies. Already tweeted today’s colourful smoothie.

It’s difficult to pic a favorite protein dessert, but I am a huge fan of protein packed puddings and frozen treats. No wonder I enjoyed this smoothie challenge so much.
