Flavouring Water

Flavoured Water 01

When I was at my sister’s place, she put out this beautiful pitcher of orange water on the table for meals. The water tasted delicious…with just a fruity, sweet flavour that was so refreshing. I loved it.

Apparently, she meant to use lemons…but she had run out, so she used orange slices. A brilliant idea.

If you’re bored of plain ole water, fruit flavoured waters are just the best thing ever. It’s still water…but it’s got a splash of flavour that keeps you drinking! These are the waters that people serve at those fancy spas.

I can’t wait to try more flavours…

Some kinds I want to try:

  • Fresh basil with strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Peppermint and cucumber
  • Peach slices
  • Pineapple and Parsley
  • Rosemary sprigs and lemon

Getting creative with your water may help you drink more during the day and makes for a beautiful, inviting beverage. These combinations taste better if you let them sit in the pitcher of water overnight. You can even just plop in your water pitcher a couple fruit tea bags!

If you’re super lazy, you can just add an ounce of pure fruit juice to your water. It’s hardly any extra calories and gives your water a nice essence.

Do what you go to do to keep you drinking!

(love my stainless-steel water bottle too!)

I love, love, love my water…but I have to admit…since I’ve started this trip I’ve had a hard time remembering to drink lots of water. At home, it’s not really an issue…but traveling it sure seems to be. I love water…so I’m not sure what my problem is. I’m keeping water with me all day long…I just don’t drink it. Dreadful. Starting right now, I’m going to change my ways.

And thank you all for your sweet comments on my last post…wow, I certainly understand those of you with family far away. Thank goodness for modern technology like Skype, Facebook, and emails that keep us close!

Do you have a hard time drinking water when you travel? Have you tried flavoured water?

I love doing this! My favourite thing to add to my water is canteloupe or oranges! Makes it soo much easier to drink more of it :)

I’ve tried lemons and limes, along with a few others, but your list has inspired me to try some new combinations. Thanks!

Another good one to try is fresh ginger. It gives water a little “kick”.

The strawberry basil combo sounds great. I made a strawberry basil iced tea this summer so I know the combo works! The only flavored water I’ve ever had was water with lemon, but I think the orange and pretty much any fruit would rock.

I am not a water person…I know that is not something to be proud of, but I am trying, really trying to drink more. I can say I am more of a juice person. Reading your blog excites me because I know I can drink more water now. I can drink flavored water. I did not think just an ounce of fruit juice can make a big difference….I’ll say hello to a more hydrated me! Thanks for the post!

how many slices of orange do you put in a quart pitcher? This sounds interesting. Do the orange slices turn color if left in too long? I ask because as a totally blind person am curious.

This is such a simple thing and yet makes me feel so special!!!

Tried this yesterday with lemon, lime and basil…. Wow! It was fantastic until I accidentally swallowed a thumb-sized piece of lime :'( Lesson learned.

    Love all these extra ideas!!!

Gail~ One large orange I think – or one and half…whatever fills up the pitcher and suits your fancy!

I tried it the other day,
even though I normally drink a lot of water, but this tasted nice and new.
I tried thick round slices of lemon and a couple of Basil leaves.
and it would be better the more the ingredients soak.

Its a better alternative to juice or even plain water.

I tried adding all different fruits but any flavored water to my taste buds is nasty!
