Cilantro Smoothie for the Adventurous Foodie

I love the unexpected. Surprises are always a win-win for me.

This also includes surprising my tastebuds.

Cilantro Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie is for the exciting smoothie drinker…or someone who is just obsessed with cilantro. I am both of these things. My flatmate thinks I’m absolutely nuts to like cilantro so much…but hey. It’s delicious and I’m not ashamed.

Also, it’s SO GOOD for you! It boasts of preventing heart disease and diabetes, while promoting a healthy weight…skin and hair…and increased energy. It’s also an amazing body cleanser, especially when it comes to metal toxicity.

The most surprising way to use cilantro

I also think it’s such a life-giving, vibrant green.

Let’s be real, the weirdest things make me happy. This smoothie is perfect for a cleanse, a healthy start to a morning, or when you’re looking for a flatter stomach. I added some pure cranberry juice (nothing with sugar or made from concentrate – I’m talking purest of pure, SOUR cranberry juice) to help de-bloat, boost antioxidants, and detox even further. I also added pure collagen for it’s amazing source of protein and beautifying properties – seriously, read below for more info because I’m OBSESSED with this. Just you wait.

Cilantro Smoothie

  1. 1 bunch cilantro, washed
  2. 1/2 cup plain, Greek yogurt
  3. Pinch of pink Himalayan salt
  4. 2 tbsp. pure cranberry juice
  5. 1 scoop THM collagen protein
  6. 1 cup ice
  7. Stevia, to taste

Directions: Blend everything until smooth. Enjoy.

Obvious footnote: If you don’t like cilantro you won’t like this smoothie. Try replacing the cilantro with spinach and you’re good to go (smile).

The most ridiculously surprising way to eat cilantro that will charm your tastebuds

Okay…now I NEED to talk about this organic protein powder. It’s currently my go-to and honestly, I don’t see that changing for a while. I still use other protein powders for certain recipes, but since trying this…with all the benefits it gives, I don’t see myself changing things up.

The protein powder that gets people walking up to me and saying I have flawless skin. Pure collagen from an organic source. It also gives me energy, supports my joints, "grounds me" by helping my nervous system do it's job (i.e. manage stress), and gives me good hair and nails on top of all that. I am officially obsessed.

It’s basically PURE COLLAGEN…so it’s a killer supplement for your hair, skin, and nails. It’s from an amazingly reliable source that contains no antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, preservatives and additives. Seriously guys, in the last month (when I’ve started using it consistently) I’ve had random strangers come up to me many times and say, “Your skin is flawless”. That, and my nails are the longest they’ve been in a while (see the pic above) and…get this, my eyelashes are longer too! The last thing might be because I use cold-pressed castor oil as my eye makeup remover/conditioner (this is the one I use)…but I sure don’t think that extra collagen hurts. The ultimate beauty supplement.

I’ve heard of other ladies who boast similar results (with this particular brand) as well, so I know I’m not the only success story.

Besides that, it maintains the health of the central nervous system, promotes healthy joints, gives energy, and is a high source of protein. Everything I could ever wish for in a protein powder. But seriously. Anywhoooo, my love rant is over.

Drink cilantro smoothies people.

Do you like cilantro? Would you drink it in a smoothie? What’s the most surprising food you’ve ever had?

I LOVE cilantro! I don’t care if some people think it tastes like soap, they should eat it anyway. It’s so good for you. And now that I know it makes your stomach flat, I’m doubling my consumption. Yum.

Hemp protein is actually considered a complete protein much like whey is, making it a powerful addition to smoothies. If you are using a vanilla or unflavored protein powder, you can include a tablespoon or two of cocoa powder to add chocolatey goodness.
