Home for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving at Home

There is nothing nicer, or more refreshing, than coming home for Thanksgiving. Yes, us Canadians just had our Thanksgiving. And it was divine.

This week was

much crazier than I had anticipated, so being able to chill in the peaceful country for the weekend was absolutely perfect.

Leaf crunching on walks with my Mom is always satisfying (anyone else enjoy leaf crunching?), and so is breathing in that nippy, brisk air while listening to that strange silence that I’m not used to anymore.

We decided to celebrate it on Sunday evening…

For me, Thanksgiving dinner is all about those mashed potatoes and Mom’s homemade dinner rolls. Gaaaah. Ya’ll, that may not be low sugar or low carb, but IT’S A FLIPPING HOLIDAY and I totally will stuff myself with that, with NO LIMITATIONS. And that’s that.

Family at Thanksgiving

After playing some Skip-Bo with the kiddos, we were able to have some good chattin’ time. Man, it is so great to catch up with the fam jam. Perfect.

Today, for Thanksgiving Monday, it started out very happy to have breakfast on the porch with my brother. I’m so grateful for this guy. Of course, there were smoothies.

Today, on this lovely Thanksgiving Monday, I was able to lucky to connect with some friends/cousins and we played some volleyball. Since the weather is getting cold, I think that’s the last I’ll see of outdoor vball for the year (hear the sound of my heart breaking!).

After getting a dose of sunshine and sweat, my brilliant cousin took me on a coffee journey…we roasted green beans (in a POPCORN MAKER! Whaaaa!), ground them, and French pressed it…all in a space of 10-15 minutes. Ya’ll, this was one of the yummiest cup of Joe’s I’ve had.

I’m already pumped to scour the internet for some green coffee beans to “roast” in my popcorn maker.

P.S. Want to try to roast your own green coffee beans, check out this simple tutorial!

How was your weekend? Canadian peeps, how did you celebrate your Thanksgiving?
