These last few weeks have been a blur. Lots of traveling, plus a week of heaven in Cuba. My sister and I decided to do a trip together to celebrate her birthday in high-style. If you remember, last year we went to Cuba as well, but this time headed to the Caya Coco region.<\/p>\n

\"My<\/p>\n

We stayed at an all inclusive resort, probably half the size than what we went to last time we were in Cuba<\/a> (about 500 rooms), but because of that enjoyed getting to know the staff really well. We didn’t have to worry about planning excursions, restaurants to go to, or worry about anything. It’s really nice just to walk up to a restaurant or bar, order a cappuccino, and not have to pay (because you already have!). Although, we still carried gifts with us from Canada so that we could show our appreciation.<\/p>\n

So here are some pictures collected from my camera, iPhone, and my Instagram. I thought it’d be fun to compile a little photo diary to share!<\/p>\n

We seriously love Cuban people. They are the sweetest, most kind people you’ll ever meet. They never complain, are always so grateful, and their happiness is contagious. Always smiling and gracious.<\/p>\n

I cut my foot on the beach and just wanted it cleaned out (so it didn’t get infected) and literally 5 employees helped me. While that was unnecessary, it really reflected well on resort and the way they put people first. Even the next day, the lifeguards were checking to make sure my foot was okay. The staff were so personable.<\/p>\n

We spent some time in other places in Cuba, and the people are like that everywhere. If there’s music playing, no matter what they’re doing, you’ll see them dancing while they work or hum under their breath.<\/p>\n

The place we stayed had fitness classes, so I enjoyed spending time with this dear lady. She was an amazing activity coordinator and organized dart competitions, aqua fit, and stretching classes…all things we enjoyed doing. It felt good to workout while on holidays and it was a neat way to meet other vacationers.<\/p>\n

Let’s be honest, when we weren’t exploring or eating…we were swimming and sunbathing. That’s what vacation is for, right?! Seriously though, we couldn’t get enough of that beach!<\/p>\n

There’s something really beautiful about Cuban culture. It’s simple, but on the outside, it’s reminiscent of glamorous days gone by…the architecture, the ornate metal lattice work, the old cars, tall church steeples, columns and patios on the fronts of buildings, open markets….it’s all so breathtaking.<\/p>\n

And the coffee…yes, I know I’m not addicted anymore<\/a>…but I did have more than my common share of caffeine while here. If you ever get a chance to try Cuban coffee, you will never regret it. Last time I was in Cuba, I remember finding coffee plants in the wild and trying them green. That may have not been the tastiest experience, but the Cubans, from start to finish, make some of the best coffee I have ever had. Their food is very different than high-taste North American food, but like last time, there are a few things I loved – check out my thoughts on Cuban food here<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Cuba holds a special place in my heart and I just loved becoming friends with more lovely people there.<\/p>\n

As far as vacations go, it was pretty wonderful. Going there with skin some shade similar to piano keys and coming back golden always feels good (smile). Next time I leave the continent though, I want to try some where else…but there’s this little part of me that is in love with Cuba and wants to come back anyway.<\/p>\n
