If you\u2019re a regular reader you probably know that I have committed myself to a challenge. Not just any challenge, an Art Challenge, which entails 30 art projects. I will be blogging about each project as I finish it. The first project was to do a drawing of myself. I have never drawn myself. In fact, I have never even tried to draw a portrait on paper before. I was excited about the challenge. So I picked out a photo\u2026and did my best to draw it out.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the fruit of my efforts.<\/p>\n

I found out that I really loved drawing. I have done very little in my time, when art moods descend on me I usually paint, art journal, or doodle. So this was really fun for me\u2026and now I feel like drawing all the time. I can\u2019t wait to get better at it!<\/p>\n

Sometimes I\u2019m really hard on myself with art. I have a very distinct image of what I want it to look like in my head, and when it doesn\u2019t come out that way I get so frustrated inside. It seems like I expect myself to be perfect right away and I can\u2019t hold myself to those expectations. Those assumptions are ridiculous. I have to remember that I\u2019m a beginner. I need to accept where I am and yet, do my best to get better.<\/p>\n

And practice a whole lot more.<\/p>\n
