One reader commented,&#8221; You have more colour to add to life,&#8221; and she&#8217;s right. God has given each one of us a purpose, so we&#8217;re alive until we finish what we&#8217;re created to do! That&#8217;s super encouraging!<\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;m healing, I probably won&#8217;t<!--more--> be posting consistently for a couple weeks, but I&#8217;ll be more around than I was!<\/p>\n<p>The recovery thing really changes life. The idea of doing a workout or going for a run gives me an extra headache. As much as I love an active lifestyle, it&#8217;s going to be a while before I&#8217;m doing anything too intense. This is fine&#8230;I don&#8217;t want to rush anything or take chances unnecessarily. My family has suffered enough drama on my behalf, so now is not the time to get water skiing lessons.<\/p>\n<p>After being pumped with morphine, narcotics, and other drug delights in the hospital&#8230;I decided that when I was home I would try to heal (and detox) as holistically as possible.<\/p>\n<p>I found this not-recent pic today and was reminded that the plan also involves no Sour Skittles (which may or may not be a weakness).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5589\" alt=\"No more skittles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/No-more-skittles-510x340.jpg\" width=\"510\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/No-more-skittles-510x340.jpg 510w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/No-more-skittles-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, the very-flexible part of this healing plan comes in with ice-cream. At this point, I&#8217;m not emotionally ready to imagine the exclusion of this angel-created delight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a01. Rest\/sleep<\/strong> &#8211; a no brainer, I know&#8230;but the most important step for recovery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Continue to eat low carb\/low sugar<\/strong> &#8211; this has been the main way I try to eat&#8230;but managing blood sugars and maintaining a healthy hormonal balance is pretty important when you&#8217;re recovering. Google THM diet and you will understand I&#8217;m still eating delicious food (and chocolate).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Slowly reduce the amount of painkillers I&#8217;m on<\/strong> (as I can comfortably handle it)<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Very light exercise<\/strong> &#8211; so far, my only plan is this&#8230;if the weather allures me, go for a short walk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Use an infared sauna 2x weekly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Use light therapy<\/strong> &#8211; this increases circulation to whatever area you put the light pad on, aiding in healing. A dear friend lent me her light kit, so I&#8217;m super thankful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a08. I&#8217;m think I&#8217;m healing well, but still have the headaches, trouble sleeping, and can&#8217;t do a lot at a time before I need to lie down and rest. Honestly though, it&#8217;s going to be a long journey, and I think considering, I&#8217;m doing great.
