Are there even people who don\u2019t like chocolate chip cookies? I mean, who would pick a cookie with raisins or nuts over a cookie with chocolate chips? Seriously. Do people do that?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not against nuts or dried fruit in <!--more-->cookies\u2026but I could never see myself choosing raisins over chocolate chips. Not happening. Ever. I\u2019m just not that good.<\/p>\n<p>These cookies aren\u2019t low carb, vegan, or gluten free\u2026however; they are made with healthier ingredients like coconut oil and whole wheat flour \u2013 there are also some heart-healthy omega-3s with the addition of nuts (yes, nuts are good WITH chocolate chips!) and flaxseeds. These are a great snack or dessert for kids who need a lot more carbs than us grownups.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4633\" alt=\"Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Healthy-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies-510x444.jpg\" width=\"510\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Healthy-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies-510x444.jpg 510w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Healthy-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies-1024x891.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Healthy-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies.jpg 1240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As always, I recommend using organic and whole ingredients as much as possible\u2026especially with flaxseeds and eggs.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"recipeTitle\">Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"recipe\">\n<li>1\/2 cup butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup coconut oil<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 cup brown sugar*<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. pure vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>2 organic eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. sea salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1-1\/2 cup whole wheat flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup organic ground flaxseed<\/li>\n<li>2 cups oatmeal<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup oat bran<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup walnuts, chopped<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cup chocolate chips<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>*<a title=\"Coconut Sugar\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/15xNIlD\" target=\"_blank\">Coconut sugar<\/a> is an even better option<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In a mixer, cream the butter, coconut oil and sugar. Add the vanilla, eggs, salt, baking soda and powder. Fold in the rest of the ingredients. Form small cookie dough balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.
