There are those days where I have a healthy lunch all packed and ready to go, hot tea in a thermos, and fruit in a bag\u2026but I have to admit, that I feel like a lot of the time\u2026I\u2019m NOT that fabulous \u201cput together\u201d gal and I\u2019m scrambling<!--more--> last minute for ANYTHING to eat before I die.<\/p>\n<p>You know I can be dramatic\u2026but personally, hunger pains just aren&#8217;t fun\u2026and when I don\u2019t plan ahead, I sometimes settle for something less than healthy. Come on, I know that some of you get me!<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why I\u2019m always eager to try out new protein bars or healthy snack foods. It\u2019s something I don\u2019t have to think about or can leave in my car or purse\u2026and it\u2019s there to save me.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Premier Protein\" href=\"http:\/\/www.premierprotein.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Premier Protein<\/a> sent me some of their protein bars (and new CRISP bars), as well as some of their protein drinks to review\u2026which made me really happy. With my height and activity level, I have a really hard time getting in the amount of protein I\u2019m supposed to have every day. YET, they only have 8g of sugar and fat. Some protein or snack bars (which will remain unnamed) I&#8217;ve tried are just recipes for a sugar high with crazy amounts of sugar (and often fat!). Those kind of bars sure taste yummy, but in my opinion, are just like a candy bar with a little protein added. That\u2019s why I was pretty impressed with nutritional stats of these babies.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4281\" alt=\"Premier Protein Bars\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Premier-Protein-Bars-458x600.jpg\" width=\"458\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Premier-Protein-Bars-458x600.jpg 458w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Premier-Protein-Bars.jpg 826w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 458px) 100vw, 458px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The only thing I\u2019m not crazy about is the fact they run from 25-26g of carbs\u2026which isn\u2019t too bad, but I like to keep things a little lower on the carb side (personally). However, they are BIG bars\u2026so honestly, I\u2019d probably eat half a bar at a time anyway. Mmmm\u2026so good. My favourite bar for this is the chocolate peanut butter. It\u2019s like a healthy Reeses yogurt (EVEN better when put in the freezer for 45 minutes &#8211; like frozen yogurt!). It\u2019s a great post-workout snack.<\/p>\n<p>The Crisp protein bar line is equally delicious \u2013 gluten free \u2013 no artificial flavours or colours \u2013 includes 7g of fibre per bar. It\u2019s also lighter in calories, running up to 200 cals at most, and 15g of protein.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The FLAVOURS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Chocolate Mint Protein Bar\" href=\"http:\/\/www.premierprotein.com\/product\/crisp-chocolate-mint-bar\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chocolate Mint<\/a> (my favourite!)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Honey Caramel Bar\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/110WQjn\" target=\"_blank\">Honey Caramel<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Peanut Butter Caramel Protein Bars\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/18gOdRU\" target=\"_blank\">Peanut Butter Caramel<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4279\" alt=\"I love Protein Drinks\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/I-love-Protein-Drinks-445x600.jpg\" width=\"445\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/I-love-Protein-Drinks-445x600.jpg 445w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/I-love-Protein-Drinks.jpg 802w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 445px) 100vw, 445px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last, but not least\u2026they have their shake line. I tried the <a title=\"Chocolate Premier Protein Shake\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1036TTr\" target=\"_blank\">chocolate<\/a> and the <a title=\"Vanilla Premier Protein Shakes\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/ZDH62S\" target=\"_blank\">vanilla<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why I liked it:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only 160 calories (with vitamins\/minerals added)<\/li>\n<li>1 gram of sugar and low in fat<\/li>\n<li>30 grams of protein<\/li>\n<li>SO easy for a breakfast on the go (I\u2019m going on a trip soon and I\u2019m TOTALLY taking these along instead of those flimsy hotel breakfasts)<\/li>\n<li>Taste pretty good (just make sure to shake it!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4284\" alt=\"Premier Protein Shakes\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Premier-Protein-Shakes-450x600.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Premier-Protein-Shakes-450x600.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Premier-Protein-Shakes.jpg 810w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had the chocolate one this morning after my run. Convenience always is a huge winner for me and if it can help get more protein in my system, I\u2019m good to go!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Do you get enough protein?
