For all you early birds that commented with your fantastic tips, thank you \u2013 I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll need every single tip you posted! For all you night owls, I\u2019m with you and it\u2019s nice to know<!--more--> I\u2019m not the only one who feels like they\u2019ve gone into shock every morning.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to chat a little bit with you about goals. I\u2019m a HUGE goal setter. Ever since I was a young teenager, I\u2019d write down my goals for the day \u2013 every single day. For me, lists, notebooks, and calendar are vital to remind me of my goals and keep me focused.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3116\" title=\"Reminder 01\" alt=\"Reminder 01\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Reminder-01-510x265.jpg\" width=\"510\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Reminder-01-510x265.jpg 510w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Reminder-01-1024x532.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Reminder-01.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(<em>I even have a table painted with chalkboard paint so I can write myself notes there&#8230;<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>Some of my goals are big, but most of them are big goals broken down to very small ones. If I were just to say my goal was to write for a magazine, that wouldn&#8217;t get me anywhere. It\u2019s vague and unfocused. I would break down the goal into dozens of small goals (write pitches, weed out ideas till I have a couple great pitches, email companies, and on and on\u2026) and then give it a go \u2013 one little goal at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of my goals for the remainder of August:<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Run my first ever trail run<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve done 5ks, 10ks, 1\/2 marathons, and <a title=\"My First Marathon\" href=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/2011\/05\/30\/my-first-marathon-part-1\/\" target=\"_blank\">even a marathon<\/a>, but they&#8217;ve all been road races. This one is going to be a new experience for me as I try running 14k in the hilly woods. I\u2019m doing this one with two of my brothers the week after next. I think some of my nieces and nephews might even be doing the 1k. I&#8217;ve got such a sporty family (grin).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3117\" title=\"Running 01\" alt=\"Running 01\" src=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Running-01-510x371.jpg\" width=\"510\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Running-01-510x371.jpg 510w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Running-01-1024x745.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Running-01.jpg 1484w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Keep up with <a title=\"Project Morning Person\" href=\"https:\/\/www.colourfulpalate.com\/2012\/08\/13\/project-morning-person\/\" target=\"_blank\">Project Morning Person<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve put a printout calendar for August on the wall so I can highlight the days when I got up when I was supposed to. Almost every box is highlighted. Almost. By the end of August, I\u2019ll be one of those people who get up at 5:30 or 6:00 (I hope!).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Beat my pushup score<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pushups are horrible. In January of this year, I only had one guy pushup to my name (yes, we all know this is very sad), but then I started to really work on it and got to 10 guy pushups (on my toes). The other day I decided to challenge myself to 20 and guess what?! I did it! I actually could&#8217;ve gone longer. In a couple weeks I\u2019m going to see if I can get to 30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Finish reading a couple books<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One book is finished and now I just have \u201c<a title=\"Worship Book\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/N4aCK3\" target=\"_blank\">Worship &#8211; the Ultimate Priority<\/a>\u201d (by John McArthur) to complete. I love reading such refreshing spiritual books in my quiet time. So far, it\u2019s been an awesome book!<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Drink ProSculpt before my morning workouts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One word for this product. LOVE. I\u2019m only talking about it because I am enamored with it (not paid or compensated at all to mention it). <a title=\"ProSculpt\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/PqgGtc\" target=\"_blank\">GNC\u2019s ProSculpt<\/a> tastes fabulous and gives me so much energy for workouts. I used to dread my morning fitness routine, but I don\u2019t anymore because I have energy for it. Have spirulina every day<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The supplement I love the best is <a title=\"Spirulina Love\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nutrex-hawaii.com\/estore\/hawaiian-spirulina-new-1000mg-3aday-formula?utm_campaign=colourfulpalatespirulina&amp;utm_medium=promotion&amp;utm_source=colourfulpalate\" target=\"_blank\">spirulina<\/a>. I\u2019m now having it every day and I LOVE it. It really seems to be a very healing food. I have more energy, my skin is better, and I just feel better. Speaking of spirulina, <a title=\"Energy Bits\" href=\"http:\/\/www.energybits.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Energy Bits<\/a> just sent me a sample of their <a title=\"Energy Bits\" href=\"http:\/\/www.energybits.com\/index.php\/energybits.html\" target=\"_blank\">spirulina tabs<\/a>. They\u2019re supposed to supply instant energy (one ingredient, one calorie per tab!), increase endurance, boost alertness, give protein, help with weight loss, and lower blood pressure. I had them the other day in my workout and noticed it helped with energy.
