Yes, that is a strange habit.<\/p>\n<p>Then, I noticed that I was getting more headaches. Curious, I started to do a little research about gum<!--more-->. What I found was enough to make me break the habit. That\u2026and being fed up with waking up with gum in my hair.<\/p>\n<p>I learned about aspartame.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some reasons I don\u2019t appreciate aspartame:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It has been traced to causing cancer<\/li>\n<li>Causes headaches<\/li>\n<li>Seems to play a role in Multiple Sclerosis and Systematic Lupus<\/li>\n<li>Causes symptoms like depression, cramps, numbness, anxiety attacks, memory loss, dizziness, joint pain, and spasms<\/li>\n<li>Changes the brain chemistry (here\u2019s <a title=\"Aspartame on the Brain\" href=\"http:\/\/articles.mercola.com\/sites\/articles\/archive\/2011\/11\/06\/aspartame-most-dangerous-substance-added-to-food.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">a great, but scary article about aspartame&#8217;s effect <\/a>on the brain)<\/li>\n<li>Tooth damage (yet it\u2019s in gum?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I could go on (there is a ton of great research about it), but really\u2026the reasons I mentioned are enough for me.<\/p>\n<p>While I still have the odd piece of gum I try to <strong>keep it a rare<\/strong> or else buy a natural brand like <a title=\"Spry gum\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/OvMn5f\" target=\"_blank\">Spry<\/a>, <a title=\"Glee Gum\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/SZdAQP\" target=\"_blank\">Glee<\/a>, or find gum that doesn\u2019t use aspartame.
