Nanking Cherry Smoothie

Nanking Cherry Smoothie

You know those sweet, almost purple Bing cherries…in my world, they are the best summer snack. I rarely make recipes with them because I love the simplicity of eating them just as they are.

However, it’s a different story with the cherries in our backyard. We had a bountiful supply of Nanking cherries this year and we weren’t sure what Continue reading »

Mint Lemonade Sipper

You guys know that I have my lemon water ever day. If it’s not drank in plain old warm water, it’s in my green tea. If I’m too hot, I’ll drink it over ice, or put my lemon into my Lemon Meringue Smoothie.

However, lately I’ve gotten back in touch with a drink I used to make a couple summers ago. How have I Continue reading »

Vegan Star Pancakes for the Fourth

Vegan Star Pancakes for the Fourth of July

So I’m Canadian, and yet, a few days ago I never found the time to put together a patriotic Canadian recipe. However, I did have time yesterday…but Canada Day had already passed. Oops.

Soooo…I reminded myself that the demographics of my readers are largely American, and decided to make something that celebrated the Fourth of July. I’m nice like that.

Just so it’s on the Continue reading »

Peanut Butter Protein Shake

This whole month I’ve been focusing on the little things I can do to feel better, keep healing my body, and lose my attachment to some unhealthy habits.

One of the things I’ve decided to do is add Vega’s maca to my everyday supplement list. Why is maca so great? Maca regulates hormonal imbalances, improves strength and energy, is a memory enhancer, increases Continue reading »

What I’ve Been Eating on the Philosophie Cleanse (& recipe)

Guys, I’ve been loving this smoothie challenge so much.

And pairing it with the Philosophie Cleanse was the best thing ever.

If you think that doing a cleanse is too much work, or too hard…you obviously have not tried Sophie’s Philosophie Cleanse. I swear there is some sort of appetite suppressant in these superfoods…I’ve felt full the whole time. Honestly, I probably haven’t been Continue reading »

Satisfying Granola

I’m not usually excited about Mondays…but last week I was thinking about Colourful Palate and my heart was filled with happy. Honestly, there are perks to recovering from my accident. I have more time. Also, I’m getting to the point where I can do a lot more, which is so encouraging. Therefore and forthwith, I’m going to Continue reading »

Raw Chia Superfood Cereal

Chia Seed Superfood Granola 01

I’ve been looking for a low calorie, low sugar granola. Turns out those are hard to find.

You know what they say, if you want something done right you need to do it yourself.

Well, ok…maybe that’s not entirely true. I did find one brand that I loved, but it was a bit pricey for me to buy regularly. I decided to make it myself. Turns out it was ridiculously easy.

No baking. No crazy ingredients.

Just stirring all that superfood goodness.

Chia Superfood Granola Ingredients

Chia Superfood Granola

  1. 1/2 cup organic buckwheat grouts
  2. 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  3. 1/4 cup chia seeds
  4. 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  5. 1/4 cup hemp hearts

Nutritional Info (per 2 tbsp):  Calories: 70, Fat: 3.5g, Carbs: 8g, Fibre: 2.5g, Protein: 3g

Is it ridiculous to just say that the instructions are…like…just mix.

Chia Seed Superfood Granola Mix

Well, that was hard.

Chia Seed Superfood Granola 02

Just kidding.

So to eat this divine bunch of love…you take 2 tbsp. of cereal and mix it with about 1/2 cup of almond milk  and let it sit a couple minutes.

Sounds meager, but the chia seeds expand and make it into a delicious, wholesome breakfast. And you can always have second helpings!

Chia seed fan, yay or nay?
