When I’m not in the coffee mood (which is rare), I love trying some of the cold tea beverages at Starbucks. For those of you who haven’t tried it, there’s this delicious passion fruit tea they make with lemonade and syrups. It’s amazing, BUT there’s way too much sugar in there!
I decided to make it my way…and not only did it have an almost identical flavour, there are NO calories, NO carbs, and not one gram of sugar! What!
And yo, it’s much cheaper! It’s four dollars for a venti passion tea lemonade. A little much for me.
Get the Starbucks, Teavana (or Tazo) passion tea (that’s where it costs a little bit) and you can make several batches. Granted, there are other cheaper fruit teas you could try, but I was trying to replicate the drink completely.
Passion Tea Lemonade
- 1/3 part hot water
- 1/3 part cold water
- 1/3 part ice cubes
- 1 Passion tea bag
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 10 drops lemon stevia*
- 20 drops cherry vanilla stevia
Brew the tea bag in with the hot water for several minutes. Add lemon juice and stevia drops. Add in ice and a straw and boom. You’re done.
*I used NuNaturals lemon and cherry vanilla stevia – but you can use a plain flavoured one as well, it just adds a nice little bit of extra “punchy” flavour!
This is incredibly refreshing on a hot summers day!
What’s your cold Starbucks drink of choice? I bet I can recreate it for you!

Have you heard of Good Girl Moonshine? For years, there has been a ton of beverages or “detox” drinks including apple cider vinegar. Hearing of all the amazing things about ACV (apple cider vinager) I kept trying them…however, they often left my Continue reading »

Ya’ll know I’ve been a Vega fan for years. It was always my favourite and the most used protein in my cupboards. You also know I’m smoothie obsessed. Ridiculously so. When I was a young teenager I was a raw & vegan…so this was my Continue reading »

Coffee has become a better friend than ever. I’ve adjusted my schedule quite drastically and I now get up outrageously early so that I can go to the gym before my morning classes hit. While this night owl still gets used to getting up while it’s still dark, coffee has become a staple.
Hot or cold, it’s a blessing.
However, currently my favourite way to enjoy it is as a post-workout breakfast…and yes, protein in the shake and whipped cream on top. I’m that girl. Serves 2.
Low Carb Frappuccino
- 2 cups almond milk, unsweetened
- 1 tbsp. heavy cream (opt)
- 8 stevia drops*
- 1 tbsp. instant coffee
- 1 scoop of whey protein, unsweetened
- 1 tray of ice
- Cinnamon and nutmeg, to taste**
*I used vanilla flavoured NuNaturals – I use this for everything, no joke
**Or you can use these spices just for a pretty dusting on top of the shake
Blend everything in a high speed blender. Pour into two glasses, top with whipped cream (optional for you – necessary for me!) and serve.
This recipe can be made vegan as well, simply omit the cream and use a plant based protein instead of whey.
Are you a coffee fan? What do you like better – hot or cold?

I’ve been posting pics of this shake all over my Instagram and when people started getting excited about it, I realized that I had to share the recipe. Why keep such goodness a secret?
It really is an amazing shake because it’s literally a dessert, but is very low sugar Continue reading »

You know I’ve been on a smoothie kick lately, but here’s another drink that’s been on my happy radar. For the new Colourful Palate reader, the “Star Recipes” feature is where I highlight a recipe from another blogger or recipe book (with permission of course!) that I dig so much I have to pass on the love!
Several years ago, when I was still doing Continue reading »

It’s amazing what a few spices can do. They can take the most boring food and make it extraordinary…think about how bland everything would be without salt. Really blaaaaaaaa….nd.
However, when I think about it, I haven’t used a lot of spices in my smoothies. What made me think this, was this amazing chai smoothie I had Continue reading »
