The Healing Plan

my very flexible holistic recovery plan2

First off, I just want to thank you for the love and kindness sent my way after the last post about the car accident.

I have to say, I sure do like being alive. One reader commented,” You have more colour to add to life,” and she’s right. God has given each one of us a purpose, so we’re alive until we finish what we’re created to do! That’s super encouraging!

As I’m healing, I probably won’t be posting consistently for a couple weeks, but I’ll be more around than I was!

The recovery thing really changes life. The idea of doing a workout or going for a run gives me an extra headache. As much as I love an active lifestyle, it’s going to be a while before I’m doing anything too intense. This is fine…I don’t want to rush anything or take chances unnecessarily. My family has suffered enough drama on my behalf, so now is not the time to get water skiing lessons.

After being pumped with morphine, narcotics, and other drug delights in the hospital…I decided that when I was home I would try to heal (and detox) as holistically as possible.

I found this not-recent pic today and was reminded that the plan also involves no Sour Skittles (which may or may not be a weakness).

No more skittles

However, the very-flexible part of this healing plan comes in with ice-cream. At this point, I’m not emotionally ready to imagine the exclusion of this angel-created delight.

 1. Rest/sleep – a no brainer, I know…but the most important step for recovery.

2. Continue to eat low carb/low sugar – this has been the main way I try to eat…but managing blood sugars and maintaining a healthy hormonal balance is pretty important when you’re recovering. Google THM diet and you will understand I’m still eating delicious food (and chocolate).

3. Slowly reduce the amount of painkillers I’m on (as I can comfortably handle it)

4. Very light exercise – so far, my only plan is this…if the weather allures me, go for a short walk.

5. Use an infared sauna 2x weekly

6. Drybrushing and Epson salt baths

Yerba Prima Dry Brush

7. Use light therapy – this increases circulation to whatever area you put the light pad on, aiding in healing. A dear friend lent me her light kit, so I’m super thankful.

 8. Essential oils – lavender, I love you.

Fruits and veggies

And of course, those fruits and veggies!

And for those of you who are wondering how I’m doing…I’m okay! I’m think I’m healing well, but still have the headaches, trouble sleeping, and can’t do a lot at a time before I need to lie down and rest. Honestly though, it’s going to be a long journey, and I think considering, I’m doing great. So much grace has come my way…

Much love,
