Finance Friendly Fitness Tips (guest post)

Today we have a guest post from David Ingram, a content writer for Focus Training. When he isn’t writing about fitness he enjoys running 3 times a week in preparation for the Leeds 10k run.

So…here’s David!

Working out is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, however joining a gym can cost a fortune and if we’re being completely honest we don’t always make the effort to go – I certainly don’t. So here are my favourite finance friendly fitness tips that keep looking you fabulous and feeling great.

Get Out and About

Jogging is possibly the most financial friendly form of exercise, all you need is a good pair of trainers (and maybe a bit of lycra) to send you on your way. When you first start out you can feel a little self conscious, but it is fantastic once you get used to it. Pop your favourite tracks onto your mp3 player and run through your favourite parks – it makes it more enjoyable for me.

Running

Dance like Nobody’s Watching

Working in an office makes me feel sluggish, lazy and lethargic; after sitting at a desk all day I like to come home, put a dance or aerobic DVD on the television to get my energy levels up. After a strenuous day, dancing really helps me let off steam – it’s a super form of stress relief! There are plenty of dancing, fitness and aerobic DVD’s available from beginner to expert and luckily they don’t cost very much at all. Get your whole family or all your friends involved for a whole lot of fun.

Challenge Yourself

Before going to bed I like to challenge myself to do a certain amount of muscle exercises such as sit ups, leg raises and push ups. To keep things interesting, have a competition with yourself to see if you can beat the amount you did the night before (I don’t always succeed, but I have fun trying!) This type of work-out doesn’t cost a penny; all that is needed is a floor (preferably clean) and the determination to do your best.

Getting fit doesn’t have to break the bank. There are plenty of exercises that you can do from the comfort of your own home or out and about in a town or the beautiful countryside. All you really need is a little bit of sportswear and the hunger to do your best or at least try. If you find that you really enjoy trying out new fitness exercises and challenging yourself (I certainly do!) consider taking a Fitness Instructor Course. It’ll teach you excellent exercise techniques, help to prevent injury and, provide you with the ability share your skills, knowledge and passion.

David

Thank you David for posting here today! I love your ideas of doing little groups of exercises before bed! I will be trying those!

What are your finance friendly tips for working out?

*This is a sponsored post, but my love for fitness on the cheap is straight from the heart.

Jump ropes and hula hoops are super affordable and make for simple but great exercise; and they’re fun!

There are so many body-weight workouts abounding these days, available on blogs and fitness sites, that you never need to see the inside of a gym. They are fast, free, and yes they are hard, but you can’t have everything, can you :-)

I love that exercise can be free! All people have to do is go outside! I guess buying a pair of sneakers costs something, but sneakers are for every day life so really… You need them regardless! :)
