Hug in a Mug

Hug in a Mug

Internet has been very touch and go lately…so this last week I haven’t been around much.

We’ve been in the Eastern provinces – PEI, New Brunswick, and currently Nova Scotia…and while it’s beautiful here, I have to say that it’s very humid and wet. I’m a prairie girl and I’m used to dry and warm.

That being the case, there’s been lots of hoodies and hot drinks. For some reason, coffee hasn’t been agreeing with me lately (making me feel sort of nauseous), so tea has been my drink of choice.

I LOVE tea and while I’m good with most any brand, I have to say that David’s Tea is my favourite. In general, I find that loose leaf teas are always better.

Since it’s chilly where I am, I thought I’d share my favourite way to prepare tea.

If I don’t have time, it’s just a cup of boiling water and a tea bag, but if I have time I like to make it special.
First, I like to steam some milk. Here I’m steaming plain almond milk and I like to make my tea actually HALF MILK. It’s really creamy this way and feels more “dessert-like”.

I steep the tea bag in the half milk/half boiling water for the time it says on the package of tea (usually 2-3 minutes).

For sweetener, I’ve been trying to veer away from high-sugar options like honey…so I really love using NuNaturals vanilla stevia for a sweetener. Just 2-4 drops is usually enough sweetener for me and it’s no calories and doesn’t have that funky aftertaste other stevias can have.

There you have it!

Tea is a hug in a mug

It’s such a simple way to do tea, but because it’s so creamy and I use a delicious flavour (Red Velvet Cake is my favourite!) it is almost like a liquid dessert. However, it’s only around 20-30 calories!

Do you like David’s tea? Do you have a favourite flavour? Have you ever experienced coffee making you feel nauseous?

I love the Maritimes! It is super damp here in Vancouver too. Great idea to steep your 1/2 and 1/2! I have definitely been there with coffee making me feel nauseous – especially if I don’t drink it while eating something or drink it later in the morning. Sad because it is so delicious! ;) I love the coco chai rooibos from David’s Tea.

Ya know, I’ve never had tea with milk. I love your mug :)

Certain varieties of tea are lovely with milk, the way the British serve it. My dad used to tell me that when he was a kid, his mom served them “bears’ tea” — mostly warm milk with a little tea.

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new feedback are added- checkbox and now each time a remark is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any manner you can take away me from that service? Thanks!

Sneakers – There should be an unsubscibe link in the emails you’re getting…

I really, really wish I liked tea. :-( It seems so much fun.
