Soup, Studying, and Low Carb

29
Nov

These last couple months have flown by – now there are only a few more weeks of this semester and I’m off for holidays! While I’m looking forward to Christmas, I have to say that I really love school. I’m already looking forward to coming winter semester in January.

Here are some bits and pieces of my life lately (via Instagram)…

Soup and stripes

I’m happy to say that I’ve only bought from the cafeteria once (yay!) and I’ve been packing my lunch every day. It doesn’t have to be a boring sandwich every day. On Tuesday I packed some delicious cauliflower soup (from the amazing Pioneer Woman’s cookbook) that my sister made. It was such a warm and cozy lunch!

Study Anatomy

I loved learning about the muscles of the body – lots of memorization, but so fascinating! In anatomy/bio we’ve now moved onto histology…not quite as much fun.

Warm Up

There are some really practical classes too, and I just finished writing a paper which mentioned about how important it is to warm up. I even wrote a post about my favourite warm up moves. It’s funny how I never used to worry too much about warming up, but now I never start a workout without some dynamic stretching.

Vega Love

Somehow I was one of the winners to Vega’s Energizing Smoothie contest, which was a surprise. Now I’m happily stocked with some of my favourite products for quite a while now…happy, happy.

Low carb at Starbucks

I’m still doing a lot of low carbing and I love it. With a little creativity, I’m thankful I can still enjoy some of my favourite treats (hello Starbucks!) low carb.I deal with a lot less cravings and I feel so good when I eat this way. This makes it almost 2 ½  months since I’ve eaten gluten, so I’m still going strong (and I barely miss it!).

Workout and Chike

Did I mention how much I love working out at the gym? Seriously, it’s one of the best things ever. I know most of you hang out at the gym all the time…but as a country girl, I never had a gym close by, so I did my own workouts at home just by running, workout DVDs, and lots of sports. Now, I really love being able to target train my whole body with machines (or free weights). It’s another source of happy.

Hope you have a fabulous day rejoicing in all that God has given us!

    Wonderful and inspiring post!!

  2. shannonmarie (rawdorable)

I tend to work out at home, mainly because I don’t have time to go to the gym with the kids. It’s easier to just get my workout in before they work out and/or with them.

Congrats on being one of the winners in Vega’s contest. You deserve it :-)

  3. Tanya Phillips

I work out at home, plus I walk 2-4 miles a day. I got hubby to start walking with my, he actually gets mad if I go without him, yay!

  4. Lisa @ RunWiki

You sound incredibly busy, so great that you carve time out to take care of yourself and workout. I don’t mind going to the gym but much prefer being outside.

  5. Miz

you nailed it with the word CREATIVITY! thats really all it takes.

  6. angela @ happy fit mama

Super cute dress! As a graduate of exercise science program I wish you the best! It’s a great field to be in!

  7. Pamela Hernandez

Lucky winner of the Vega stuff, nice! What’s in your Starbucks cup?

  8. Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean

    you’re adorable. that’s all :)

  9. Angie @ Losing It and Loving It

In the past we have been members at a few gyms but after so many spin class changes, it just didn’t fit our time frame anymore so we decided to remodel our garage into a home gym. Best.investment.ever.

I didn’t mind the gym but working out at home is awesome. I would drive at least 30 min. to the gym one way so I’m saving on gas big time and I only have a short walk to the shower. The best part? I don’t have to lug a big gym bag full of clothes, towel, shower shoes, etc. ha ha

I do miss having a local trainer but I found one online who is awesome.

Pamela~ I made it low carb with a cream instead of milk and sugar free syrup. It’s low in carbs, but very high in fat…it’s one of those “for very special” treats!

It is much easier to focus on what you CAN eat and making it healthy rather than focussing on what you CANT.

    Great post.
